It is home to some rare wildlife and provides all sized creatures a natural environment to survive. Fairhaven is also home to some ancient woodland and has 2 of Britain's oldest trees. There are a number of planned and marked walks throughout the garden with walking times usually taking between 15 and 40 minutes. All of Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden is accessible although some of the paths are a little bumby, but they do have mobility scooters available to hire.

Among the attractions at the garden are relaxing afternoon and evening boat trips to St Benet's Abbey when the weather permits. Booking is essential as they are always very busy.
